Certifications

We are pleased to announce that ERi has been approved, through a peer-reviewed process, to deliver certification based on ACCT Practitioner Certification Standards.  Published in June 2007, these new standards are designed to establish a consistent, uniform base of skills and knowledge for all challenge course professionals and address technical, program-delivery, and management needs.  What does this mean for you?  By adding this exciting new dimension to our training offerings and curricula, ERi now has the ability to administer Level I, Level II, and Challenge Course Manager content and testing, allowing you to achieve and maintain highly-marketable credentials that are recognized and respected across the challenge course industry.

Within the three levels of ACCT certification offered by ERi, there is something for practitioners at every stage of experience, from new facilitators to those seeking high levels of responsibility in the industry.
  • Level I is an “entry level” credential that requires no previous challenge course experience prior to the first training and denotes a practitioner who is proficient with core technical and facilitation skills and can deliver routine programming.
  • For the more experienced facilitator seeking a greater degree of responsibility with program delivery and staff supervision, Level II “intermediate” certification shows that a practitioner has not only mastered the fundamentals but also has more specialized skills, the ability to handle the unexpected, and can provide leadership for less-knowledgeable staff.

  • Challenge Course Manager (CCM), the third level of certification, is for highly-experienced practitioners involved in the administration of challenge course facilities and the conception and delivery of programming on a broader, operational scale.

ERi provides training modules that correspond to every level of certification. In addition, experienced challenge course professionals also have the opportunity to “Challenge In” at the appropriate level without taking a new training, a process which requires the submission of a portfolio for review by ERi (portfolio guidelines and templates are available on the ACCT website).  Practitioners whose portfolios meet established criteria will be permitted to test for the desired credential during an ERi-scheduled exam session.
